Lewiston Energy Recovery Facility - Lewiston, ME
Methuen Construction acted as the General Contractor for this important Environmental Protection Project, which was completed under budget and five months ahead of schedule.
The new facility allows the LAWPCA to further process wastewater sludge using two new anaerobic digesters, which produce enough methane gas to power two 230 KW cogeneration engines. The cogens produce enough electricity to cut energy consumption at the entire facility by 50%, plus reducing CO2 emissions by 80%. In addition, the cogens provide the heat required for further sludge treatment, reducing Biosolids Management Costs by 35%
