Methuen Construction Names New President

Methuen Construction Company, Inc., a Northeast subsidiary of MWH Constructors, is excited to announce that it has named Jeff Garner as its new President, effective July 2022.

Garner’s history with MWH most recently saw him serve as Chief Business Officer of MWH, President of Slayden Constructors, another MWH subsidiary in the Northwest, as well as Construction Manager of the $1.8 billion San Francisco Bio-Solids project. Garner brings proven leadership both at the enterprise level and detailed project level, building successful teams while encouraging growth and supporting the successes of the teammates.

“I am very excited to become a teammate at Methuen.  The family atmosphere, company culture, which focuses on safety and values, and the entrepreneurship spirit here are the right formula for success,” said Garner. “I look forward to building on the successes that Joe and the teammates have achieved and continuing to help Methuen not only stay the leader in Water, Wastewater, and Industrial Construction in the Northeast, but growing us to our maximum potential.”

Joseph Barbone, Jr. who has spent nearly 35 years with Methuen Construction will remain CEO of the organization and continue to support and guide the company leaders as he looks forward to the next chapter of his life.  Barbone noted, “I am very much looking forward to working directly with Jeff. I am confident he will continue and expand MC’s legacy of growth, construction excellence, and exceeding client expectations while leading and further developing a talented, engaged, and exceptional team.”

Wayne Symonds, former Executive VP of Methuen Construction, will take on the new role of Chief Business Officer, directly assisting Jeff with a focus on the finance and project support function within the organization.
